Wednesday, 31 May 2023, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) held an online meeting with representatives from the University of Queensland. This meeting is a discussion forum held to discuss the Joint Degree Master’s Program in Occupational Safety and Health. “We are very excited to be able to accept international students, especially from UI, to return to study at UQ,” said Associate Professor in OSH at UQ, Margaret Cook.
From FPH UI, the Dean, Prof. dr. Mondastri K. Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc.; Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc.; Manager of Cooperation, Alumni Relations and Ventures, Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D.; Head of the OHS Department of FPH UI, Mila Tejamaya, S.Sc., MOHS., Ph.D.; and Collaboration, Alumni Relations, and Venture Unit Staff, Mahannie Tamimah, S.K.K.K. Meanwhile, from the University of Queensland, there were Country Managers for UQ in Indonesia, Nadia Sarah and Fitria Arsanti; International Manager Faculty of Science, Grace Li; and Associate Professor of OSH, Margaret Cook.
The collaboration between UI and UQ has been going on for four years. “It is my obligation to continue and perfect this collaboration with all the effort that can be expended,” said Prof. Mondastry. Previously, FPH UI had collaborated with Curtin University as a Joint Degree. “To establish this kind of collaboration, we have to register the program with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbud). We really hope that this (Joint Degree) program can be opened this year, “continued Dr. Love.
UQ said that there are several scholarship schemes that can be taken if FPH UI students study a Joint Degree with UQ. Among them are LPDP and Australia Award. In order to get a full scholarship, FPH UI still has to collaborate with several parties. Even so, Nadia and Fitria said they were ready to help in all the process.
If this program is successfully implemented, students will later undergo 2 (two) years of study with details of the first 1 (one) semester at FPH UI, the next 2 (two) semesters at UQ, and the last semester spent at FPH UI. When they have completed their studies, students are entitled to get 2 (two) degrees from UI and UQ. The conditions are not that difficult. Students must still register for the FPH UI K3 program through Postgraduate SIMAK. After that, several files must be prepared and submitted including Academic Transcripts and IELTS Certificates with a minimum score of 6.5 without any components below 6 (six).
This collaboration is one of the many international collaborations that FPH UI is working on. This is in line with the internationalization efforts that are being intensified by FPH UI to improve the quality and quality of education. (BK)
