Prof. dr. Abdul Kadir, Ph.D, Sp.THT-KL(K), M.ARS

Abdul Kadir is the General Director of Directorate General of Health Services at Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia (Indonesia’s Ministry of Health). The Directorate General of Health Services has the task of organizing the formulation and implementation of policies in the field of health services in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations. To carry out the task, the Directorate General of Health Services has several functions such as formulating, implementing, creating norms, standards, procedures, and criteria, providing technical guidance and supervision, performing evaluation and reporting in the field of improving services, facilities, and quality of primary, referral, traditional, and complementary health services.

Abdul Kadir receives his education from several universities in Indonesia. He first took an undergraduate degree in medicine and continue to finish his General Practitioner education program. After graduation, he enrolled into a Specialist Residency Program in Otolaryngology which is a branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases around the ears, nose, and throat as well as the head and neck. He then obtains his master’s degree from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia where he majored in Hospital and Health Care Facilities Administration/Management.

Before becoming the General Director of Directorate General of Health Services at Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia, he was appointed as Professor for the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Hasanuddin on April 2009. He was also the President Director of Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat (Central Public Hospital) Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar on 2015 before getting promoted to become the General Director of Directorate General of Health Services on December 2020.
