The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) is holding a webinar entitled “E-Medical Record: Are You Ready for A Change Towards a Better Future?” on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. This webinar was held online and was attended by more than 500 participants with various backgrounds.
Electronic medical records are a breakthrough that will greatly affect business processes and of course service improvements. “This theme is a very strategic theme, so the interest is also very large,” said Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc. in his speech.
The key presentation was delivered directly by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, CHFC., CLU. Currently, the Ministry of Health is trying to improve health data governance through a platform called SATUSEHAT. In its implementation, the electronic medical record is a key that also requires support from all parties. “We invite the entire community to participate in the success of implementing Electronic Medical Records in all Health Facilities before December 31, 2022,” said the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.
The next material regarding Medicolegal Aspects of Electronic Medical Records (RME) was delivered by Prof. Dr. dr. Agus Purwodianto, DFM., S.H., M.Sc., Sp.F(K), Professor of Forensic and Medicolegal Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, UI. In his presentation, Prof. Agus conveyed the urgency of RME, the RME ecosystem, its implementation, and other technical matters. It was conveyed that there were several things that still needed to be improved in the implementation of this RME. RME still requires a shared understanding as an electronic document related to digitization and standardization. “RME as electronic information requires accuracy in setting the benefits and harms, starting from compatibility and interoperability regarding data privacy and patient protection. Especially with patterns of violations or crimes in the IT 4.0 era and the maturity of Indonesian human bioethics and culture which requires separate ethic-medicolegal evidence,” explained Prof. Agus.
In the second session, the Head of the Digital Transformation Office as well as Expert Staff for Health Technology, Ministry of Health, Setiaji, S.T., M.Sc. In a relatively short time, Setiaji delivered material entitled, “SATUSEHAT and Electronic Medical Records,” in a concise and clear manner. Some of the presentations included digitalization of health services, commitment to health transformation, regulations around RME, One Health Data, as well as the precision and accuracy of health services. At the end of his presentation, Setiaji invited all participants to jointly realize health transformation, “Collaboration is very important in order to accelerate health transformation in Indonesia. Let’s together we can build a stronger and healthier Indonesia.”
In the last session, there were two speakers who shared their experiences in implementing RME in their respective health facilities. The two sources were the Director of the Eka Hospital Cibubur Hospital, Dr. Sheiry Novan; and Head of Nursing RSU Bunda Margonda, Depok, Ns. Ersida Saragih, S.Kep., MARS. Eka Hospital is the first hospital to fully implement EMR at the hospital. This did not happen instantly, but about 14 years. Likewise, RSU Bunda Margonda which is currently implementing RME. This real experience can be an illustration for the participants about what must be considered in implementing RME. (BK)
