PT Bridgestone Tire Indonesia or PT Bridgestone is a Japan-based company that manufactures tires for various kinds of vehicles. Founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi, the company expanded into Indonesia’s market in 1975. Since entering the Indonesian market, PT Bridgestone made a commitment to standardize their manufacturing process by obtaining multiple ISO certifications: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018.
It is very common for students from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia to participate in an internship program in a factory setting, specifically those who majored in Occupational Health and Safety and those who majored in Environmental Health. However in 2021, there was only one student from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia who participated as an intern for three months at PT Bridgestone’s factory in Karawang, West Java. During the internship period, the student was assigned to conduct safety training, safety inspection and safety induction, as well as planning a risk management plan for the company’s latest project.
