Friday, October 21, 2022, Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) received a visit from Rumah Tahfiz Imam Muslim, Bekasi. The visit was conducted offline at the Doctoral Promotion Room Building G, FPH UI. The purpose of this visit is to introduce the world of higher education to junior and senior high school students of Rumah Tahfiz Imam Muslim and motivate students to pursue their dreams and pursue education to a higher level.
“FPH UI warmly welcomes the arrival of the younger siblings of Imam Muslim Tahfiz House here. Hopefully you can get enlightenment and new insights about FPH UI,” said FPH UI Academic Manager, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., in her speech. Doctor Laila then explained the profile of FPH UI, starting from the study programs available at FPH UI, the entry points that can be taken, to the cost of education.
The next material is a presentation consisting of study program profiles, accreditation, and an overview of the courses that will be undertaken. Doctor Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., then explained the material from Bachelor of Public Health. “Public health is different from medicine because in public health we learn a lot about preventive action,” said Dr. Laila. Doctor Ir. Diah Mulyawati Utari, M.Kes., Head of the Bachelor of Nutrition also gave an explanation about the Bachelor of Nutrition. “In the Bachelor of Nutrition we also learn the same things as Public Health, but we focus on nutrition science. We have a different learning system from other study programs. Nutrition uses a block learning system,” said Dr. Diah.
“Environmental health is also an important element for human health. In the Bachelor of Environmental Health, we learn how to prevent environmental exposure from being harmful to humans,” explained Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.Si., M.K.M., Head of the Bachelor of Environmental Health. The presentation of the study program was closed by a representative of the The Bachelor of Occupational Health and Health (OHS), Annisa Islaminia. “The majority of Indonesia’s population is in productive age. Therefore, the OHS aspect is very important for these productive age workers. In the Bachelor of OHS, we will discuss a lot about psychosocial and ergonomic aspects.”
The participants of the event looked enthusiastic following the introduction of this bachelor program. The question-and-answer session was crowded with participants asking questions about FPH UI and surrounding public health issues. The event was then closed with the recitation of the holy Quran by students of Imam Muslim Tahfiz House.
Hopefully, this visit can provide benefits for students to understand more about the Faculty of Public Health and motivate Rumah Tahfiz Imam Muslim students to continue their higher education, especially at FPH UI. (WR)
