Monday, January 15, 2024, the Public Health Doctoral Study Program, Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) held an Open Doctoral Promotion Session on behalf of Putri Ayuni Alayyannur. The session was chaired by Prof. Dra. Fatma Lestari, M.Si., Ph.D., with Prof. Doni Hikmat Ramdhan, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., as Promoter, Prof. Dr. Dr. L. Meily Kurniawidjaja, M.Sc., Sp.Ok. and Prof. Dr. Dr. Tri Martiana, M.S., as Co-Promoter. Meanwhile, the testing team consisted of Dr. Robiana Modjo, S.K.M., M.Kes.; Mila Tejamaya, S.Si., MOHS., Ph.D.; Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., and Dr. Iting Shofwati, S.T., M.K.K.K., as the examining team. Putri defended her dissertation with the title “Model of Occupational Heat Exposure to Indications of Kidney Function Disorders in Workers in the East Java Fisheries Sector”.
Occupational heat exposure is a risk factor indicating impaired kidney function in various studies. Hot environmental temperatures are increasingly being reported as a risk factor for acute kidney injury (AKI). The relationship between heat exposure and MMR has attracted the attention of experts, especially in the context of global warming. For example, as many as 120 workers in South India who experienced heat stress suffered from decreased kidney function. Fishermen and fishing workers are among the workers at risk of heat exposure.
This study develops a contribution model of occupational heat exposure to indications of impaired kidney function in workers in the East Java fisheries sector. This research was conducted on 150 fisheries sector workers (fishermen and fishermen) at TPI Brondong, Lamongan Regency, East Java in 2023 with a cross-sectional design.
The results of the research conducted by Putri found that 42% of respondents had indications of abnormal eGFR (CKD-EPI) kidney function and 11.3% of respondents were in the category of indications of uKIM-1 kidney function disorders. There are several factors that contribute to indications of impaired eGFR kidney function (CKD-EPI), namely occupational heat exposure, water consumption, coffee consumption, workload, and work clothing. This research produces a model of occupational heat exposure that contributes to indications of impaired eGFR kidney function (CKD-EPI) in workers in the East Java fisheries sector which is expected to be applied to fisheries sector workers in East Java.
Based on the results of her dissertation, Putri was officially declared a Doctor in Public Health. Putri is the 13th IKM doctoral graduate in 2024, the 309th IKM doctoral graduate, and the 396th FPH doctoral graduate.
