Departing from concerns about the not yet significant reduction in the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia and supported by massive internet use by pregnant women, Delmaifanis wrote a dissertation entitled “Development of a Model for Antenatal Services by Midwives Supported by the Web-Based Apps ‘Bundaqusehat’ for Improving the Quality of Services and Health Promotion for Pregnant Women”. This dissertation was prepared with Prof. dr. Kemal N. Siregar, S.K.M., M.A., Ph.D., as promoter and Prof. dr. Anhari Achadi, S.K.M., Sc.D., and Prof. Dr-ing. Ir. Kalamullah Ramli, M.Eng., as the co-promoter.
The research started with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) which aims to determine the factors that influence antenatal needs. Through this stage, it is known that there are several obstacles in the implementation of antenatal services that can be overcome with digital health efforts. The research was then continued with system requirements analysis, model building, prototype design, and testing of the ‘Bundaqusehat’ Web-Based App prototype. This application is an integrated and comprehensive digital-based antenatal service with several features, including SOP and checking, referral links, health records, risk detection, teleconsultation, health promotion materials, reminders, real-time reports, and monitoring of fetal movements which can be accepted by midwives and pregnant women.
It was discovered that interactive antenatal services, supported by the ‘Bundaqusehat’ application, could improve midwifery performance, knowledge of pregnant women, satisfaction with services, and adherence to taking Fe tablets and monitoring fetal movements. This is because the application can make antenatal services more integrated, comprehensive, and can be stored properly digitally. In the future, it is hoped that there will be further research on implementing digital health on a larger scale so that the ‘Bundaqusehat’ application can be used massively.
The results of Delmaifanis’ research were defended in a doctoral promotion session Thursday, 13 July 2023, at the Faculty of Public Health (FPH), Universitas Indonesia (UI). The session chaired by Prof. Dr. dr. Sabarinah Prasetyo, M.Sc., this was carried out in a mixed manner in the FPH UI Doctoral Promotion Room and the Zoom Meetings platform.
Through the results of the discussion the chairperson, promoter, co-promoter, and the examining team consisting of Dr. Drs. Tris Eryando, M.A .; Dr. Indra Supradewi, S.K.M., M.Kes.; dr. Elizabeth Jane Soepardi, M.P.H., D.Sc.; and Dr. Drs. Sutanto Priyo Hastono, M.Kes., it was decided that Delmaifanis graduated as a Doctor of Public Health with a Very Satisfactory graduation and a Grade Point Average of 3.85. “In the future, it is hoped that Dr. Delma continues to serve as a lecturer while continuing to develop herself by learning from various sources in order to be even better for the nation and state,” said Prof. Kemal in his speech.
Dr. Delmaifanis, who is a Lecturer at the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health 3, is the 289th doctoral graduate of Public Health Sciences and the 373rd Doctor of FPH UI. During his struggle to become a Doctor, Dr. Delmaifanis has also produced 5 (five) publications and 1 (one) book with the promoter. (BK)
