“This year, FPH UI has just opened a program for non-regular classes that are accepted through the PPKB route,” said Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., Education Manager of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) in her remarks at the opening of the study visit from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Malang City Monday, June 19, 2023.
A total of 100 students and 3 companions from MAN 1 Malang City were accepted into the FPH UI Doctoral Promotion Room. Apart from the FPH UI Education Manager, present as a resource person from FPH UI was the Head of the Public Health Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Robiana Modjo, S.K.M., M.Kes.; Head of Nutrition Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Ir. Diah M. Utari, M. Kes.; Head of the Public Health Masters Study Program who is also a Lecturer at the Department of Environmental Health, Dr. Budi Hartono, S.K.M., M.Sc.; as well as Head of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Undergraduate Study Program, Mila Tejamaya, S.Si., MOHS., Ph.D.
“Public health is different from medical student. In public health science, we learn how to keep healthy people healthy, or also known as preventive measures, while doctors are more concerned with treating people who are already sick,” explained Dr. Robiana Modjo when explaining about the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program. Furthermore, Dr. Robiana also explained about the specialization and curriculum of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program.
In the presentation of the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program, Dr. Ir. Diah M. Utari, M.Kes., explained more about student activities and achievements, what was learned and the distribution of courses in a block system conducted in the Bachelor of Nutrition Study Program. Meanwhile, Dr. Budi Hartono, explained about the Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program where students learn more about the factors in the environment that affect health.
“The OSH Undergraduate Study Program at FPH UI is the first in Indonesia, therefore, graduates from OSH FPH UI have spread across various government and industrial institutions including mining and oil and gas,” said the Head of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Undergraduate Study Program, Mila Tejamaya, S.Si., MOHS., Ph.D., closed the presentation session by explaining about the OSH FPH UI Undergraduate Study Program.
Through this visit, it is hoped that MAN 1 Malang City students can understand more about the science studied at FPH UI, especially in the undergraduate program. It is hoped that this will also provide insight into choosing advanced study programs when entering higher education later.
