Saturday, 17 June 2023, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) introduced the postgraduate study program to the public through an Open House activity. This activity was carried out online through the Zoom Meeting platform.
There are 4 (four) Masters Study Programs (Prodi), namely Masters in Public Health Sciences, Masters in Epidemiology, Masters in Hospital Administration, and Masters in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and 2 (two) Doctoral study programs namely Doctors in Public Health Sciences and Doctoral in Epidemiology opened at FPH UI. These six study programs have made a strong contribution to public health science and are accredited superior from LAMPT-Kes.
The open house introduced the Masters and Doctoral Epidemiology study programs, both of which were the first Epidemiology Masters and Doctoral study programs in Indonesia since 1995. The Doctoral Epidemiology Study Program is also the only epidemiology doctoral program in Indonesia. Epidemiology Doctoral Program chaired by Prof. drg. Nurhayati Adnan, M.P.H., M.Sc., Sc.D., while the Epidemiology Masters program was chaired by Dr. dr. Helda, M. Kes. The need for an epidemiologist is actually very high in Indonesia where every puskesmas is required to have at least one epidemiologist.
The next study program, which is known as producing directors at well-known hospitals, is the Masters in Hospital Administration Studies (KARS). This study program is headed by Dr. Ede Surya Darmawan, S.K.M., M.D.M., who is also the Chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Public Health Experts (IAKMI). This study program is also equipped with E-Learning classes to increase student flexibility, “There are E-Learning classes with a 50% proportion that students can attend, so students only need to come to campus 4 times,” said Dr. Ede.
Another study program is the Master of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) chaired by Dr. Dadan Erwandi, S.Psi., M.Sc. Similar to the KARS Masters, this study program also has the flexibility of having Distance Learning Classes (PJJ) with the condition that there is cooperation with institutions/agencies/companies.
Not to forget, the Masters and Doctoral Study Programs, Public Health Sciences (IKM) were reintroduced. The IKM Masters program is the oldest IKM Masters program in Indonesia which is also a reference for the IKM Masters program throughout Indonesia. There are 17 specializations taught by 5 Departments and 2 Study Groups (Pokdi), namely Health Economics, Health Insurance, Health Service Management, Health Policy and Law, Biostatistics, Health Information, Public Health Nutrition, Environmental Health, Environmental Health Epidemiology, Health Promotion, Community Mental Health and Disabilities, Reproductive Health, Health Service Quality, International Public Health, Region-Based MKD, Institution-Based MKD, and Elderly Health. “Master of Public Health Sciences FPH UI is a locomotive for quite a number of trains of similar study programs throughout Indonesia,” said the Head of the IKM Masters Study Program, Dr. Budi Hartono, S.Si., M.K.M. The Doctoral IKM study program has two entry pathways, namely the Research Pathway and the Regular Pathway with two years of study, one semester of proposal preparation, and research in the remaining semesters. This study program is chaired by Dr. dr. Rita Damayanti, MSPH.
The open house also reminds interested parties that currently, the opening of registration for wave 2 (two) of SIMAK UI for the Postgraduate Program is taking place.
In addition to detailed information about each study program, information was also distributed about various scholarship options, including the domestic Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) Scholarship. For this reason, prospective students should not hesitate to choose FPH UI as a place for postgraduate study, moreover all FPH UI Postgraduate study programs have received superior accreditation from LAMPT-Kes and 2 of them (S2 IKM Study Program and S2 KARS) have also been internationally accredited from AHPGS.
