Collaboration with various foreign universities is one of the efforts of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) to continue to develop networks and quality education. This time, FPH UI agreed to collaborate with the Tobacco Endgame Center of Research Excellence (CRE), School of Public Health, The University of Queensland. The signing of the roadmap between FPH UI and The University of Queensland was carried out in a hybrid manner on 22 June 2023.
The meeting with CRE Tobacco Endgame, School of Public Health, The University of Queensland discussed the potential for collaboration in education and research especially on tobacco for the next 5 (five) years (2023-2028). The agreed cooperation roadmap includes not only joint research collaboration in scientific publications, but also: (1) joint research supervision for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the topic of tobacco control, the development of collaborative research projects; (2) student exchange programs; (3) drafting grant applications on topics of common interest; (4) collaboration in joint advocacy activities; and (5) collaborating with Public Health: National Public Health Journal owned by FPH UI.
“For the next 5 years we will be working together, I think a focus on educational research will be very beneficial. Especially for the tobacco problem where this is still a problem in Indonesia,” said the Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs at FPH UI, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini in signing the roadmap collaboration with the University of Queensland represented by Prof. Coral Gartner, Ph.D., Director of CRE Tobacco Endgame, School of Public Health, University of Queensland.
Besides being attended by the Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs of FPH UI, from FPH UI there was also the Manager of Collaboration, Alumni Relations and Ventures, Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., and Dr. Al Asyary Upe as FPH UI Ambassador in the “International Joint Publication and Research Mobility – World Class University (WCU) 2023 program organized by UI through LPDP-Dikti funding; who is also the Editor in Chief of Kesmas: National Public Health Journal FPH UI.
