In the aspect of Occupational Health and Safety, Fire Extinguisher (APAR) is a mandatory equipment that must be equipped by every campus and building to prevent fires that can threaten the safety of workers and building assets. Awareness and skills are needed for the workers as well as the involvement of workers so that the threat of fire hazards can be recognized, anticipated and addressed as early as possible.
Departing from these considerations, Sunday, July 31, 2022, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) of the Universitas Indonesia (UI) held a training on the use of a Fire Extinguisher (APAR) or fire extinguisher. APAR is a tool used to extinguish fires or control small fires. Fire extinguishers are generally in the form of a tube filled with a high pressure fire extinguisher.
At the training which was opened by the Coordinator of the Non-Academic Quality Assurance Subunit, Marwan M. Noer, S.Ikom, Zaenal Dawami from PT Tiga Kunci was present as a resource person in the training. Followed by participants from educational staff from all subunits, laboratory assistants, and all security at FPH UI, the training was held at Car Parking A, FPH UI.
This training aims to provide understanding and knowledge about the use of APAR. The training is divided into two sessions. The first session was giving basic material about fire, fire, types and types of fire extinguishers, as well as how to use fire extinguishers starting from storage, how to carry and how to extinguish fires with fire extinguishers. Furthermore, in the second session, all participants were given the opportunity to practice directly how to use the APAR based on the theory that had been given previously in the first session.
Through this training, it is hoped that the participants who come from all subunit staff, laboratory assistants and security are able to apply occupational health, safety and environmental aspects, especially in the use of APAR. (wrk)
