Monday, August 7, 2023, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed 47 students from Inje University, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). They are participants in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) University of Indonesia Credit Earning Program (UI-CREATES) who will undergo a program in Indonesia for 2 (two) weeks. Later, participants are entitled to receive 2 credits and official transcripts from UI after completing the entire series of programs.
The opening of the OHS UI-CREATES was attended by all participants and lecturers from the three universities, the program person in charge, Milla Tejamaya, S.Sc., M.O.H.S., Ph.D., and Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., as the Dean of FPH UI who then officially opened the event.
“This activity is useful as a forum for learning and sharing knowledge, active participation, and widening friendships and networks at the international level,” said Prof. Mondastry. This activity is interesting because it is not limited to the academic realm, but also cultural and soft skills. FPH UI is committed to presenting the best lecturers so that the knowledge received is comprehensive. “We are very happy and excited to welcome you to our campus. In this program, you will meet our senior lecturers who will share about Occupational Safety and Health in Indonesia,” said Dr. Milla in her speech.
As a form of inauguration, representatives from each university signed an official cooperation agreement. Tokens of appreciation from FPH UI were also handed over to Inje University, UMP, and USM, as well as souvenirs from each university.
After being officially opened, the UI-CREATES activity organized by the Department of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) FPH UI held a faculty tour and games guided by the OHS FPH UI Student Association, OHSC. During the series of events, there were several OHSC members who would help become student buddies as well as organizers. The series of events consisted of public lectures, visits to factories, and cultural visits. Participants will be invited to visit cultural attractions in Jakarta, including the National Monument, National Museum, Istiqlal Mosque, and the Batik Museum where participants will experience the sensation of traditional batik painting. Because it is held in the month of independence, the participants will also enjoy the splendor of independence in Indonesia. They will also take part in Indonesia’s independence celebrations on August 17.
The hope is that this activity can be a good platform for participants to understand the OSH condition in Indonesia and learn about Indonesian culture. More than that, OHS UI-CREATES is also expected to carve a beautiful memory in the hearts of the participants and the supervising lecturers. (BK)
