On June 1 and 5 2023, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) will again visit to partner universities to carry out collaborative visits. On this trip, FPHUI visited Singapore by visiting the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and Duke-NUS Medical School on 1 June 2023 and a visit to the National University of Singapore (NUS) on 5 June 2023.
“SIT has a strong global perspective in practice-oriented learning and close industrial relations. FPH can learn a lot from SIT about how to build a learning system that is matched to the needs of the industrial world. Collaboration with SIT includes student and lecturer exchanges, development of international study programs, applied health research and innovative health technology. Collaboration with SPH-NUS and Duke-NUS-MS will be more focused on student and lecturer exchanges as well as joint research and publication collaborations. This is expected to leverage FPHUI’s international research reputation considering that NUS is the 2nd best university in Asia (QS World University Rankings: Asia 2023) and is ranked 19th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2023),” concluded the Dean of FPHUI, Prod. Mondastri Korib.
Visits to the three partner universities were carried out to strengthen the cooperative relationship between FPHUI and the three partner universities. During his visit to SIT, the Dean of FPHUI signed an Agreement of Implementation (AoI) together with the Director of Global Health SIT and submitted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UI and SIT. The collaboration carried out by FPHUI and SIT includes academic and non-academic collaborations, such as joint research, joint publications, and student and staff exchanges.
Furthermore, on a visit to Duke-NUS, FPHUI discussed collaborative projects in terms of joint research and exchange staff including: research grants for global health institutions for disaster preparedness, fellowships for junior researchers by NUS Asian Grants for 6 months – 2 years with the master house at Duke-NUS, as well as collaborative research on the topic of the elderly in natural disasters: heat stroke, the effects of climate change to upper respiratory infections.
During the two visits, the Dean from FPHUI, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., and Cooperation, Alumni Relations and Venture Manager, Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., present from FPH UI. Meanwhile, from SIT, present Deputy Cluster Director, HSS Cluster, Assoc. Prof. Christopher Lai Wai Keung; Deputy Director, CLASIC, Assoc. Prof. Diamond Azura Mokhtar; Assistant Director, Global Experience Division, Dr. Veronica Oh; Senior Manager, Global Experience Division, Mr. Lim Lit San, as well as Manager, Global Experience Division, Mr. Andrew Chia. On the next visit, Dr. Rahul Malhotra, Deputy Director of CARE and Dr. Abhijit Visaria, Senior Research Fellow Duke-NUS attended.
While on the 5 June 2023 visit to NUS, FPHUI also discussed potential collaborations that could be carried out between the two parties. Among them were discussed the potential for collaboration for joint degree programs, student internships, student exchanges, student mobility programs, credit earnings, faculty exchanges, joint research and publications, symposiums and conferences, workshops, trainings, and adjunct professors. “FPHUI and NUS have a lot of potential for collaboration. NUS also welcomes this visit to jointly discuss the potential for cooperation that can be carried out between the two parties,” said Dr. Robiana Modjo, S.K.M., M.Kes., Head of the FPHUI Public Health Undergraduate Study Program who accompanied the Dean of FPHon a visit to NUS.
