The second day of the AUA Academic Conference 2023 was held in parallel with the symposium of the 6th International Conference on Hospital Administration (ICHA) and the 3rd International Conference of Occupational Health and Safety (ICOHS) on Monday, 13 February 2023. AUA Academic Conference which was held in a hybrid manner in the Hall A FPH UI has discussed a lot about the situation of HIV/AIDS and the condition of maternal and neonatal health in Indonesia.
Present as the first symposium speaker, Bianca Gaea Ginting, HSE Junior Expert Overseas Division of PT. Waskita Karya. It is not uncommon for HIV/AIDS to infect workers, especially construction workers who stay for a long time at project sites. ”PT Waskita Karya does not discriminate against workers with HIV/AIDS. We will continue to pay attention to infected workers by providing peer educators and committees that focus on HIV/AIDS prevention and control,” said Bianca.
The first plenary session presented two speakers, namely dr. Heru Kasidi, M.Sc., Chief of Pita Putih Indonesia and Prof. dr. Zubairi Djoerban, Sp.PD-KHOM., Internist – Specialist of Hematology and Oncology, University of Indonesia. Doctor Heru Kasidi discussed “Maternal and Neonatal Health and Climate Change”. In his presentation, dr. Heru explained that climate change could also affect maternal and neonatal health conditions. “Maternal health is not only about humans, but about our planet. Climate change is a threat to our health condition. Real action is needed to improve maternal and neonatal health, especially in Indonesia,” said dr. Heru. Furthermore, Prof. dr. Zubairi Djoerban, Sp.PD-KHOM explained about “HIV/AIDS Situation and Management in Indonesia”. “One of the predominant factors for HIV risk behavior is drug injections. In Indonesia there are lots of people who do drug injections using one syringe for more than one person. This is what makes our number of HIV/AIDS cases increase,” said Prof. Zubairi. In addition to the number of disease cases, Indonesia also has a high rate of ARV-resistant cases, which is around 24.1%. Support is needed in terms of the psychosocial component for people with HIV/AIDS to continue to undergo treatment.
