Friday, 1 July 2022, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI), as the organizer of The 2nd ITTP-COVID19, held a joint workshop with UI G-20 Research Based Policy, UI Disaster Risk Reduction Center (DRRC UI), and Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia Dunia (PPID) as one of a series of pre-conference activities of The 2nd ITTP-COVID19. This activity is open to the public with the theme “Harmonization Global Health Standards Protocol For COVID-19” and is held online through the Zoom Meeting platform and Live Streaming Youtube FPH UI.
“Seeing the COVID-19 pandemic situation which has improved, now we are faced with the recovery of COVID-19, not only in Indonesia but also across countries. By controlling the COVID-19 pandemic quickly and well in harmonizing global health standard protocols, it is hoped that the situation will recover soon,” said the Chair of The 2nd ITTP-COVID19 Conference, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., in her speech.
Munawar Khalil, S.Si., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., as the Director of Research and Development UI, also delivered his remarks about the importance of cross-sector collaboration. It was conveyed that not only collaboration between disciplines is essential, but also the exchange of ideas between academics and policymakers. It helps formulate various recommendations as well as evidence-based and practical solutions to be able to strengthen the situation after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coinciding with the 57th FPH UI Anniversary, continued Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc as the Dean of FPH UI, expressed his gratitude as well as his remarks in the hope that this activity could become a forum for contributions for Indonesia and globally in the harmonization of global health standard protocols for COVID-19.
On the same occasion, presentations were also held by various resource persons, initiated by Prof. dr. Fatma Lestari, M.Sc., Ph.D., as the Research Team Leader of DRRC UI, who explained the background and desk review of COVID-19 in Indonesia. “Global health standard protocols to promote safer and more comfortable cross-country travel have become a priority for Indonesia by developing digital applications that can be recognized in various countries,” said Prof. Fatma.
While Prof. Dr. Ing. Eko Supriyanto from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia comprehensively explained how to harmonize and expand the implementation of the global health protocol perspective after the COVID-19 pandemic in the ASEAN region. “There is a need to maintain the positive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic through ASEAN health transformation including harmonization of personal health monitoring and the introduction of telemedicine within ASEAN,” explained Prof. Eko.
Furthermore, Prof. dr. Hasbullah Thabrany, M.P.H., Dr. PH., as Lead Co-Chair of T20 Indonesia, and dr. Anthony P. Sunjaya, SM., CHIA., FRSPH, Ph.D., as the Vice-Director of Research and Policy for the World PPI, conveyed comprehensively the harmonization and strengthening of global health standards and the COVID-19 pandemic recognition protocol from two different perspectives: academic and civil society perspectives.

The International Teleconference on Technology and Policy in Supporting Implementation of COVID-19 (ITTP-COVID19) is a consortium initiated in 2021 involving 27 universities in the Southeast Asian region, supported by the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN University Network (AUN). (AHS)
