Faculty of Public Health Universitas Indonesia/FKM UI has gradually started to run several offline activities on campus by certainly implementing strict health protocols. On Friday, June 10th, 2022, FKM UI welcomed a study visit by students of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Health Sciences, Bina Mandiri University of Gorontalo. A total of 71 participants and their supervisors took part in the activity at Building G Hall of FKM UI.
The attendees from FKM UI were Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc., Head of the Department of Nutrition, Dr. Ir. Trini Sudiarti, M.Kes., Head of Nutrition Studies Program and Laboratory, Dr. Ir. Diah M. Utari, M.Kes., and Secretary of the Nutrition Studies Program, Wahyu Kurnia Yusrin Putra, S.K.M., M.K.M. While, the student supervisors from Bina Mandiri University of Gorontalo were Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Health Sciences, Adnan Malaha, M. Si., Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Arpin, S.K.M., M.Kes., Head of Pharmacy Studies Program, Apt. Rini Daud Supu, M.Farm., and Laboratory Assistant of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Health Sciences, Adera Rahmawanto Taidi, S.Farm.
After opening with remarks from the FKM UI Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc., and introductions from Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Health Sciences, Adnan Malaha, M. Si., Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, the first agenda of the visit was the introduction to the FKM UI Nutrition Studies Program delivered by Wahyu Kurnia Yusrin Putra, S.K.M., M.K.M. “By 74% of the graduates of the FKM UI Nutrition Studies Program work in fields according to their major,” said Wahyu while presenting profile of the FKM UI Nutrition Studies Program graduates.
Furthermore, Dr. Ir. Diah M. Utari, M.Kes., delivered an expert lecture themed “Efforts to Prevent Stunting Risk Factors in the Transition Period of the COVID-19 Pandemic”. Stunting is a chronic malnutrition problem caused by insufficient nutritional intake for a long time that results in growth disorders. “Due to its serious, various and long-term effects, stunting is deemed a syndrome, in which linear growth failure such as stunted/short is the earliest detectable sign. While, cognitive abilities and chronic or non-communicable diseases appear at an older age,” added Dr. Diah.
In addition to the introductory session for the study program and the expert lecture, all the visiting participants also had the opportunity to visit the FKM UI Nutrition Laboratory. While, the student supervisors who were Bina Mandiri University of Gorontalo lecturers did explore a partnership with lecturers from the FKM UI Nutrition Studies Program accompanied by the Coordinator of the FKM UI Alumni Relations and Partnership Sub-unit, Adi Putranto, S.E.
Hopefully, the visit would be a good start for fostering further partnership between FKM UI and Bina Mandiri University of Gorontalo. (wrk)
