When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, the tourism sector experienced conditions required to implement the CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety & Environment) program and implement health protocols. The 2021 tourism village network (Jadesta) data shows that the implementation of CHSE and disaster mitigation still needs to improve due to a lack of understanding of CHSE and disaster risks and the lack of competence and capacity of human resources in tourism villages. With the number of tourist villages in Indonesia reaching more than 7,000, it is known that the CHSE education and massive disaster mitigation needed have yet to be supported by the availability of risk mapping for tourism villages in disaster-prone locations.
Based on the results of these data, mapping the risk of tourism villages in disaster-prone locations is very important to increase the competence of human resources and protect tourists. Therefore, on September 22, 2022, the Universitas Indonesia, through the Kedaireka Matching Fund Grant from the Universitas Indonesia – the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy managed by the Universitas Indonesia’s Disaster Risk Reduction Center (DRRC), which consists of Lecturers, Students, Alumni of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI), Department of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) FPH UI, and School of Environmental Sciences (SIL) the University of Indonesia launched the Creating a World Class DeWi Tourism Village Program (World Class DeWi) through the implementation of CHSE and Disaster Mitigation for beneficiaries Tourism Village Award in Cianjur, West Java.
