Monday, 19 December 2022, the Undergraduate Program in Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) held an online presentation of the results of Field Learning Practices (PBL). Attended by the Head of the FPH UI OHS Undergraduate Study Program, Mila Tejamaya, S.Sc., MOHS., Ph.D.; Head of the Warung Jambu Health Center, Bogor City, dr. Megawati Sihombing; Sub-Coordinator for Health HR Development at the Bogor City Health Office, Wahyu Pito Supeni, S.K.M., M.Epid., this event marked the closing of Field Learning Practice (PBL) activities for class of 2019 for the OHS Undergraduate Study Program which took place from 1 November to 19 December 2022. This event is a collaboration between FPH UI and the Depok City Health Office and the Bogor City Health Office.
In this activity, students carry out an OHS risk analysis in the informal industrial sector/Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)/offices/schools/public facilities in the administrative areas of the City of Depok and Bogor City, West Java. The PBL activity participants this time consisted of 5 groups, each consisting of 9-10 students divided into 2 (two) regions, namely groups 1 (one) and 2 (two) in charge of Depok City and 3 (three) other groups in Bogor city. Each group has a different PBL topic, namely:
- Group 1 (one) on the Occupational Risk Assessment at the UKK Post in the Depok City Health Office, measures the hazard of noise, hand and arm vibration, whole body vibration, working climate and lighting.
- Group 2 (two) concerning Analysis of Office Ergonomic Factors and Intervention Efforts at the Depok City Health Office, took employee anthropometric measurements, complaints of skeletal muscle disorders in employees, work posture, and lighting measurements.
- Group 3 (three) measured muscle and skeletal disorders as well as measurements of other ergonomic aspects at the Bogor City Bappeda office and regarding daily fit to work at the Bogor City DPKP.
- Group 4 (four) concerning the Implementation of Industrial Hygiene in MSMEs in Bogor City, carried out material and risk analysis using the walk-through survey method and measuring aspects of lighting and working climate.
- Group 5 (five) on Efforts to Implement Health Facilities at Warung Jambu Community Health Center and Hazard and Risk Identification at CV Wangun Mandiri Tapioca Factory, as well as conduct counseling related to OHS issues, namely fire, muscle and skeletal disorders, and respiratory disorders after observing and identifying them.
The PBL activities of the five groups were warmly welcomed by the Depok City Health Office and the Bogor City Health Office, because with the results of the intervention and counseling carried out by students it is hoped that the sectors that are targeted for PBL this time can start implementing a more ergonomic work culture, increasing employee awareness. regarding the importance of OSH and to become a reference for related parties to prepare facilities for a more ergonomic work climate and pay more attention to OSH aspects. “This activity can be a refresher for our knowledge about OHS,” said the Head of the Warung Jambu Health Center, Bogor City, dr. Megawati Sihombing.
In his remarks at the presentation of the results of Field Learning Practices (PBL), the Sub Coordinator of Health HR Development for the Bogor City Health Service, Wahyu Pito Supeni, S.K.M., M.Epid welcomed this kind of PBL activity. “We Health Service welcomes activities like this, hopefully this activity can be continued in the coming years. This activity not only provides an opportunity for students who are studying but also brings good news to us officers in the field.
