BPJS Kesehatan is a public legal body in Republic Of Indonesia aimed at providing universal health care to its citizens. In 2016, the BPJS program had a deficit of more than six trillion IDR. However, the deficit ballooned to 32 trillion in only three years. In response, the government issued a policy that increases the monthly premium for access by 80 to 100%. Some saw the move as placing a burden on the low- and middle-income citizens. Every Indonesian citizen and foreigner who has worked in Indonesia for at least six months must become a member of the program in accordance with Article 14 of the BPJS Regulation.

As a person working in the world of health, he is active in many health programs. He received his doctoral degree in Public Health at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia in 2006. He was a consultant, senior expert and senior advisor at GIZ (The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) in 2013 and 2017. In addition to that, he has also been a Health Specialist at USAID Jakarta in 2015. From the year 2000 to 2017, he has been involved in more than 80 research projects, surveys and studies related to health in almost all of Indonesia.
